More about our vision below.
So Much Innovation, But Consumers Aren’t Engaging
In the last decade, we’ve seen incredible innovations in digital and virtual care. I personally have been part of bringing amazing innovations to life — in mental health, chronic condition management, telemedicine and primary care. These solutions have improved clinical outcomes, access and ROI. They’ve been adopted by employers and health plans. So why are healthcare costs still rising about 7% every year?
Here’s a well-known secret. We have a consumer engagement problem in healthcare. Few people are actually using these innovations. The adoption rate of the average digital health solution, even with proven outcomes and evidence, is in the single digit percentage (of the target population). We can’t seem to get people to discover and use them. That’s a real problem.
"It costs us up to $2M to roll our a digital health solution broadly — just in operations and outreach — before any claims or reimbursement. And typically we we only get single-digit engagement."
- Health Plan Executive
And once you start looking, engagement is broken in all corners. It’s a challenging economic climate for Medicare plans — connecting members to personalized benefits is half the battle in maintaining retention and a 5-star rating. For Individual and Family plans, helping members find the right support can stem the remarkably high churn-rates. For Medicaid, a number of the underlying health equity challenges come down to connecting with members in a way that speaks to their cultural background. The list is endless.
A little over a year ago, an incredible team of healthcare veterans came together at RadiantGraph. We had common experiences with the lack of consumer engagement, and it’s impact on healthcare companies, big and small, payors and vendors. We had common insights from our collective decades of experience. RadiantGraph is the platform we wished we had.
Our Vision to Fix It
Consumer engagement in healthcare is not broken due to lack of spend. Payors, for example, spend between 10–20% of the administrative budget on member engagement activities — including direct marketing costs, agencies, and data infrastructure — tens of millions per year. The right product and platform can optimize this spend and its impact, and even lower it. Healthcare companies can do more with less, and find ways to connect with each consumer in a way that is meaningful. We all should have a healthcare experience that’s designed just for us.
Here’s our vision:
#1 — Healthcare needs its own consumer engagement platform
Historically, healthcare companies have had to build around tools that weren’t designed for them. RadiantGraph is designed specifically for healthcare engagement needs (like value-based care), workflows, and challenges. It understands data unique to healthcare (like claims and social determinants). It supports personalization across a wide-variety of clinical needs.
#2 — It should embed the magic of new AI capabilities
We’re seeing powerful capabilities with LLMs, voice, and soon video that can truly revolutionize how we engage consumers. But without a platform like RadiantGraph, it’s challenging for healthcare companies to make these work the way they should. The safety and compliance risks alone are overwhelming for healthcare CIOs today. RadiantGraph seamlessly embeds these capabilities, such as content generation and voice AI agents, into the workflows of marketing and product teams in healthcare.
#3 — A complete platform makes engaging consumers easy
There is a messy tangle of data and AI-point solutions, cobbled together, with broken workflows inside healthcare organizations. Growth, marketing, and product teams are busy, and don’t have time, staff and resources to build a comprehensive solution. And frankly they shouldn’t need to. RadiantGraph solves the entire problem. We work with broken healthcare data, integrate with your cloud platform, help you spin up models and test as many ideas you can imagine. We take away your pain. Out of the box.
What’s Next
It’s early days, but it’s really exciting to see this vision come to life. RadiantGraph is already working with leading organizations, and our systems and models are personalizing healthcare experiences for millions of Americans. Our clients are bringing personalization to life at a rapid clip and at a fraction of the cost. Healthcare customers are seeing the impact in their experiences.
“Before RadiantGraph, I felt like I was working with my hands tied behind my back.”
- Marketing executive
I’m grateful for our amazing team, and our category leading investors, for rallying behind our vision. Thank you.
And here’s what we ask of you, the healthcare consumer. Let’s stop taking the status quo for granted. There’s no reason for healthcare, representing 18% of our GDP, to not deliver customer experiences on par with those in other industries such as travel, entertainment and retail. We can and should help payors, providers, systems and other organizations bridge this gap. So the next time you have a healthcare experience that feels impersonal, disjointed or broken, share it with us, and let’s make it better. Let’s create the healthcare we deserve.
